Common questions
Montessori is a thoughtfully designed, three-year learning cycle that begins at age 3 and culminates with the Kindergarten year. During this final year (ages 5–6), students step into leadership roles, tackle advanced lessons, and experience their most significant academic and social development.
Montessori isn't modeled after gifted programs — it often exceeds them. In fact, Montessori education is inherently an accelerated learning environment. With individualized lessons, self-paced progression, hands-on materials, and deep conceptual learning, children advance far beyond grade-level expectations in both capability and confidence.
Our guides hold a Montessori credential earned through a training program accredited by MACTE — the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education, the international standard-setting body for Montessori educator preparation, recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education since 1995.
Those credentials are earned for a specific age range — Infant & Toddler, and Early Childhood — so the guide in your child's classroom trained for exactly the children in it. Much of that training is in observation: learning to see what each child is ready for, then introducing the material that meets that moment.
“Montessori” isn't a protected title, so it's worth asking any school where its teachers trained. You can look up accredited programs at macte.org.
